I'm good on kickoff returner because he has experience and they've regulated it into a pretty safe play and it rarely results in a return anyway. I wouldn't try to make him the punt returner.

But I also don't really care about this debate because I'm excited about the pick for the offense.

I will have a hard time not comparing him to two guys they could have gotten with the trade back (picks 34 and 99) with the Giants (plus a Day Two pick next year). But he was clearly in a different tier than the guys they'd get later. I wonder if the Chargers had taken Golden if the Packers would have accepted one of the trade deals being offered. Giants, Falcons, and Eagles had been reported as calling and all three made trades, so they were on the table for sure. I don't like the Falcons-Rams deal even though they got a future first because they gave up a 3rd this year to make it happen and that's the meat of this draft.

But we got a legit player that probably has the best chance in this draft class of doing what I said I doubt anyone would--become an offensive focal point as a rookie.

Yeah no even looking back....we made the right move by not trading back. This is a bad WR class but Golden is a legit top 20 WR pick.

For once the Packer did the obvious thing in the first round. I like this version of the Packers.

Very, very excited for the 4 WR threat of Golden, Reed, Watson and Wicks. If Watson's injury progresses well...I wouldn't be surprised at all if Doubs is on the trade block come deadline.

I was wondering about a potential Doubs trade but didn't want to start a tangent in the Golden thread; wouldn't fetch much, but I wouldn't even be surprised if it happens on Day 3 this weekend.

I think you play him the first half because of Watson being out. If he balls out (which isn't unlikely as Jordan has chemistry with him) he could still fetch a 4th rounder.

What do we know about his hamstrings.

Do we target these players or is this something we do to them?

Haha. This one hits home, literally. As the Packers were making their pick, my wife was showing me things she wants to by for the kitchen.

It would have been nice to use this pick on a CB but the stupid decision to play a hurt Watson in a meaningless game and give him a major injury made using this pick on a WR absolutely necessary.
Watson isn't very good anyway. He has speed but that is it. Not a very good route runner, too many drops. This is the last year he is under contract. Even without the injury last year the Packers need more WRs.

He explained that his speed may not have appeared on the field as much because he's tempo-ing his routes so he only is moving at top speed when he needs to, and his route running and quick movement skills are pros in the write-ups, so that tracks.
You can see this on the film. I watched quite a few Texas games this past. He has a good feel for the game. Was only a true Junior, will get much better.

I agree we needed to address it regardless. I think Watson was very raw and needed development. That has been hindered by injury to say the least, but I've seen growth. I've seen regression at times, but everything else is better overall.

Without the injuries he'd be a heck of a weapon for this offense. His route running has improved quite a bit. His attitude is excellent. He blocks well. His hands have been up and down, but his route tree was a lot more than just going deep and when we could utilize him on the field, playing offense was a lot easier.

Jeff Janis was fast and that's it. Watson was a lot more and just touching what he could be. Injuries have done what they've done and i'm not sure he's getting past them. I hope, but we'll see.

Watson was very sure-handed last season, only three drops on the year. Mind you, one of those drops was brutally ugly, but his hands were not part of the problem for us.

Just watched Pat Macafee show clip from last night.
Can’t figure out how to share it?
Funny as hell during the lead up of picking Golden!!
Worth finding
What made it even better was them almost missing the Vikings pick, then glossing it over, like "Vikings pick a guard or whatevs, back to the Packers..."

Refreshing to watch Paul Farrington's pain instead of Tom Grossi's.

Take away still getting concussions while wearing the Martian man hat and Doubs was our best wide receiver last year…

I love the pick! I'd rather have the size of Higgins. But we can't have everything. This guy could actually become really good.

Gawd dammit.

I just want my WRs and linebackers to wear traditional numbers. Enough with everyone being 0 - 29.
